Career Resources – European AI Policy
By AI Safety Fundamentals Team (Published on November 27, 2022)
One potential way to improve the impacts of AI is through the actions of the EU or European national governments, by doing good policy development, advocacy, or implementation.
To support people who are interested in that path to impact, this page compiles some relevant career information, advice, and opportunities.
This is extremely far from being a comprehensive collection of relevant advice and opportunities; we do not yet have expertise on European policy careers, so our knowledge is likely lacking.
(Some of these resources include the UK; others do not.)
Career information and advice
- AI policy careers in the EU (Langosco, 2019)
- AI Governance Career Paths for Europeans (2020)
- (Note this is a bit broader than “European AI policy” in focus—it also has some discussion on how Europeans can contribute to AI governance through non-European organizations.)
Career opportunities
- Announcing the EU Tech Policy Fellowship (2022)—This fellowship offers training, 3-month job placements, and job application support in European politics and policy, with a focus on AI and cybersecurity policy.
